William Considine

writes poems and plays. For more than 40 years, he has been an active and prolific writer, based in New York City.

His latest books of poetry are Continent of Fire, published by Kelsay Books in October 2022, and The Other Myrtle, published by Finishing Line Press in 2021.

Performances of his short new plays include most recently Oedipus in Love in September 2023 and A Common Tongue in February 2024.

Poetry

Beginning in the early 1980s, Bill became active in the East Village poetry world, with numerous public readings and publications.

Playwriting

Most recently, a dramatic monologue on guns, Over Drinks, and Oedipus in Love were performed in New York in 2023.

Recent Work

In the age of King Charles III, experience the fate of Charles I and the Restoration of Charles II. This play brings to life the imprisonment of the poet John Milton in the Stuart Restoration. The play had a reading online featuring Bob Holman as Milton in August 2021 in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Boog City arts journal. Watch the reading here.
